How do I join a Hub?
How do the Hubs work?
Hubs are secure, completely covered spaces monitored by CCTV. They have a number of bike stands inside them to which you can lock your bike. You get into the Hubs by placing your membership card against the reader to release the door.
How much does it cost to use a Hub?
All Hubs (except City Tower and MediaCityUK) cost £10 per year and allow use of all hubs (except City Tower and MediaCityUK). Prices for City Tower and MediaCityUK are shown on the relevant Hub pages.
How long will it take to get my membership card?
Please allow up to 10 working days for us to process your application and post your membership card to you.
Can I park at other Cycle Hubs?
All members can use any Hub, except City Tower and MediaCityUK, which can only be accessed by those with a membership for that individual Hub.
Are more Hubs planned?
Yes, we’re building Hubs at more locations across Greater Manchester. The latest news will be posted on the parking page.
How do I get into a Hub?
Simply place your membership card against the reader near the Hub entrance to open the door. Please make sure that no other smart cards are in the vicinity of the reader.
What if I lose or damage my membership card?
If you lose or damage your membership card a replacement can be obtained by phoning 0300 123 1675 (Option 1) between 7am to 8pm, Monday to Friday, 8am to 8pm Saturday and Sunday or email firstname.lastname@example.org. You will be charged a £10 administration fee.
What if my membership card doesn’t work?
We will replace your membership card free of charge, if it stops working. Phone 0300 123 1675 (Hubs option) between 7am to 8pm, Monday to Friday, 8am to 8pm Saturday and Sunday or email email@example.com. Free replacement does not apply for lost or damaged cards.
What if my membership card is stolen?
If your membership card is stolen we will replace it free of charge. Phone 0300 123 1675 (Hubs option) between 7am to 8pm, Monday to Friday, 8am to 8pm Saturday and Sunday or email firstname.lastname@example.org. to let us know. You will need a crime reference number from the police.
Can I cancel my membership?
Yes, you can cancel your membership. Refunds are only given for unused whole months of membership where the annual membership cost is greater than £10. To cancel your membership, please return your card to Travel Concessions, Transport for Greater Manchester PO Box 429, Manchester, M60 1HX.
What membership options are available at City Tower and MediaCityUK?
There are two types available; Standard membership lets you park your cycle securely. Premium membership also gives you use of showers and a personal locker.
Am I guaranteed a parking space?
At City Tower and MediaCityUK your membership guarantees you a parking space. Spaces at other Hubs are provided on a first come, first served basis and you are not guaranteed a parking space
Can I use a locker overnight?
Lockers cannot be used overnight for security reasons and we may remove contents that are left. An exception to this is Premium members at City Tower* and MediaCityUK who are able to leave belongings in their personal lockers.
*At City Tower these are the full and half-length lockers currently located in both the changing and main Hub areas.
Can I leave my bike overnight?
City Tower and MediaCityUK members can leave bikes overnight. Bikes should not be parked in other Hubs overnight and if you do we may remove them.
Do I need insurance for my bike?
We suggest you have appropriate insurance for your property when it is in a Hub as TfGM cannot accept responsibility for loss or damage.
Who do I contact if there is a problem?
If you cannot enter a Hub phone 0300 123 1675 (Hubs option) between 7am to 8pm, Monday to Friday, 8am to 8pm Saturday and Sunday.
When are hubs open?
Standard opening times 6am – 12am. Opening times are different for Sale, City Tower and MediaCityUK, details can be found on their webpages.
What if someone asks me to let them into a Hub?
To protect your security and that of others, do not allow people to enter a Hub with you, or upon leaving and do not loan your card to anyone else.
Will my card work with BLUC lockers?
No. The BLUC scheme works in a different way than the Hubs. For more information about BLUC click here
Are bike locks provided?
No, you will need to have your own lock and we recommend you lock your bike to the stands provided by securing both wheels and the frame, and that you use a high quality lock. We’ve given some practical security tips on our website here. You will also need to bring your own lock if you want to use a locker.
