Cycle training and courses

We’re passionate about cycling and giving people the confidence and skills to cycle on our roads, lanes and paths. Over 4,500 skills sessions have taken place to date and we hope that over the coming years many more people will take up this FREE offer and find out it is better by cycle.

As well as delivering adult cycle training sessions, both on the road and in traffic-free environments, we offer maintenance courses, ride leader training and HGV driver training.

All courses are led by expert instructors, taking place right across Greater Manchester and are FREE.

Learn to Ride - If it’s been a while since you’ve ridden a bike, or maybe you’ve never had the chance to try, this is the course for you.

Our training uses step-by-step teaching, covering all the basics from;

  • Getting on and off a bike
  • Starting off and pedalling
  • Using the bike’s gearsBalancing and controlling your bike

Held in accessible, local venues across Greater Manchester, Learn to Ride courses are led by National Standard qualified instructors who will teach you the basics of the bike and bike riding.

As you’re not alone on this, you will be with people of a similar ability and provided with the use of a bike and helmet on the day, but you’re welcome to bring your own if you prefer.

If you can’t find a course near you please email us at cycling@tfgm.com and we’ll let you know when we’ll next be in your area.
